Them Bones, and Again
This Friday marks the return of THEM BONES: FACING DEATH IN PARIS AND ROME, this time at the 1717 Meetinghouse in West Barnstable, co-sponsored by Friends of the Ancient Cemetery (Yarmouth). The subject matter reflects visits made a few years ago, and though some well-known sites are noted—Catacombs (Paris), Père Lachaise, Keats-Shelley House, the Capuchin Crypt—the aim is to provide historical context and stories about the places visited and the people involved, including Napoleon, Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Caesar. That kind of people.
More recently, we visited some other places, which luckily had plenty of Thanatos-related material, so the sequel to THEM BONES will come in September, to Thacher Hall, Yarmouth Port: THEM BONES. . . AGAIN: FACING DEATH IN MUNICH AND VIENNA, AND ALONG THE DANUBE. This one will feature such as saints, emperors and Michael Jackson.
Looking forward to them both, and hoping to see fans of those cities.
